French Onion Beef Sliders

Updated: Nov 17, 2019

I had one goal today, to not step one foot outside the house. I also had a goal to stay the better part of the day on what my youngest calls “The Cuddle Couch”. While I made everyone their favorite breakfast, sprinkle waffles with strawberries and whipped cream for the youngest and cinnamon French toast for the big kiddos and Daddy, I did not want to make multiple dinners.

So I went to work on my grab and go plans for linner (grab as you please lunch and dinner). Crock pot potato soup (recipe can be found here from Mama Love Food) and French Onion Beef Sliders. These sandwiches are best ate with a fork, as while they are petite in size they are massive in flavor, and can get a little messy.

Alright lets get started – first and foremost make sure you have all of the following in your pantry:

· 1 stick of butter (divided)

· 1 large sweet onion

· 2 pounds of ground beef

· 4 tablespoons of Better than Bouillon Beef (divided)

· ¼ cup of Worcestershire sauce

· Salt & Pepper

· 12 slider buns

· 12oz of Gruyere Cheese, shredded

· 1 tablespoon of Garlic Powder

Now, lets get started making these delicious sandwiches. First you need to caramelize the onions. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a skillet over medium heat. Slice the onions thinly and add to the skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally until lightly caramelized (about 15 minutes) on medium/low. **Hint: if your onions start to look thirsty add some tablespoons of water to re-hydrate them**

While the onions are cooking on the stove top, add the ground beef, 3 tablespoons of Better then Bouillon Beef, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper to a large bowl. Mix it all up with the two best tools the good Lord gave ya, your hands!

Bring that bowl over to the stove and add the beef to your caramelized onions in the skillet. Making sure to break up the ground beef and mix allowing it to cook evenly. While keeping an eye on the beef as it cooks make sure you preheat the oven to 350 degrees and grease a 13x9 baking dish.

Once your beef and onion mixture is browned, drain all the grease from the pan. Add the bottoms of your slider buns to the baking dish and distribute your ground beef and onion mixture evenly over the tops of the buns.

Next shred the gruyere cheese to evenly cover the beef and top with the slider buns. In a small microwave safe bowl add the remaining butter and 1 tablespoon of the Better than Bouillon beef and microwave for one minute or until the butter is melted. Using what my youngest likes to call the “paint brush for food” (baster) mix the bouillon and butter mixture and spread over the top of the buns until the bun tops are saturated.

Go ahead and put in the oven for about 10 minutes, or until the bun tops are browned and the cheese is melted. Once that timer goes off grab yourself a sandwich and it the snuggle couch for a day or football, snuggles, munching, and relaxation! Enjoy!
